EHF Game Cancellation policy (Jan 2009)

League games will be played unless there is an announcement made on www.FEDHockey.com canceling games league wide.

If a league wide cancellation has not been announced but a team feels it is unsafe to travel, they must contact their organization’s director to seek league approval for canceling their game. Coaches do not have the authority to cancel games. If a team does not show for a game without prior league approval, the game will be recorded as a forfeit and the team/organization will be subject to fines. The EHF cares about the safety of its families so a coach's cancellation request will not be unreasonable withheld.
If you have any questions about this policy, including contact information during a storm, please contact your organization’s director.

IYHO's Philosophy
The Islander Organization exists to allow young people the opportunity to participate in a competitive league, to allow the players to be involved in an environment that focuses on skill development and team-based responsibilities with the intention of developing within the players a life long love for the game. Our goal is to develop all players on an equal basis based on teaching the game from different perspectives- individual offense and defense, team-based offense and defense and most importantly how players should win or lose with dignity and humility.

In either case, the opportunity to experience and develop " lessons in life " will be in the forefront of our coaches minds.

Lt. Derek Hines Memorial Trust (link)
A former North Shore Raider and Middlesex Islander, Derek graduated from St Johns Prep in Danvers and the United States Military Academy at West Point, Class of 2003, where he excelled in hockey, academics and leadership. Derek was captain of the hockey team his senior year. Derek lost his life in Afghanistan on September 1, 2005. Derek leaves behind a wonderful family and countless friends. We as a community and a country owe our freedom to extraordinary young men like Derek.

EHF Referee/Timekeeper Guidelines
MITES thru SQUIRTS -
NCAA Rules will be used except that there will be no checking but tag up offside is allowed

PEE- WEE thru BANTAMS - NCAA Rules will be used.  Wear the proper patch.  Do not wear a USA patch during an NCAA game.  Checking and tag up offside is allowed.

MIDGET and GIRLS - USA Hockey rules will be used.

PENALTIES

NCAA—Minors, Majors, Misconducts, Game Misconducts (no game suspension required), Disqualification (progressive suspension policy is in effect.)

Matching Penalties – NCAA is 4 on 4 unless multiple penalties then 5 on 5. Exception if team is shorthanded and coincidental minors are assessed the teams will skate 5-4.   USA is 5 on 5 all situations.

12 Minute Periods:                            15 Minute Periods:
Minor 1:00                                          Minor 1:30
Major 3:00                                          Major 4:00
Misconduct 6:00                     Misconduct 7:30

Any player who receives a total of 7.5 min. in penalties, in 15-min. period games or, 5 min. in 12-min. period games (excluding misconducts), will automatically receive a game misconduct.  A game misconduct is removal of that player for the balance of that game only.  This is any combination of penalties that total 7.5/5.0 min. or more.

Any official who calls a D.Q. (NCAA) must contact Ref-in-Chief immediately
(Eugene Binda ric@fedhockey.com).

Any player who receives a fighting major and DQ in the last 5 minutes of a game, will automatically be suspended for one additional game above the normal progression suspension.

Disqualification penalties will follow the NCAA guidelines for progression as follows:
·      1st offense that game plus one
·      2nd offense that game plus two
·      3rd offense that game plus three
·      4th offense that game plus four
·      5th offense player is suspended pending a hearing by the disciplinary committee

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS
Length of game—each organization must provide 60 minutes of ice time for mite games and 75 minutes for squirt thru midget games.  Within these timeframes, a minimum of 3 minutes of warm-up time must be included.  Any game not completed within these timeframes will end and be considered an official game.

Official game sheets—must be printed clearly and signed by all on ice officials, coaches and timekeeper after each game.

Time outs- for play-offs only, one time out per team is permitted.

Scoreboard—at any time during a game, if there is a 10-goal difference, running time will apply.  If the score then drops below a 10 goal difference, stop time will resume.

 Semi-final and Final OT Format-
10.4  Overtime in Playoffs- Semi-final and Final rounds only

(a) Overtime may take place in playoff games. There shall be one 5-minute, stop-time sudden death 5 v 5 period.  Thereafter the format will be 4 v 4 for 5 mins, then 3 v 3 sudden death until conclusion.  Teams will not change ends.

Merrimack Rink Rules:

1)      All access to the rink is from the front lobby

2)      Please note which side of the rink is available to utilized-do not sit on the side which is roped off

3)      There is to be no game playing of any type in the lobby. If your teams are part of an issue it will be required to skate at another location using available ice.

4)      Each team is responsible for the condition of the locker room before it arrives and after your session. If there is any damage you must notify the rink immediately and identify that it occurred prior to your occupation of the lock room or it resulted on your teams watch

5)      Players are not allowed on the ice until the Zamboni door is closed. This means that the entrance door to the ice surface MUST REMAIN CLOSED until the Zamboni doors are closed.

6)      Respect for the facility and the employees of the College is a requirement. Any violations will result in a person or a team being barred from using the facility. If there is a problem that needs to be addressed it should be brought to the coach and FM. FM will personally handle all interfacing with the College.
